Frequently asked questions about Holvi international transfers

SEPA is for euro payments across the SEPA region and works like a domestic transfer. SWIFT is the global network used for cross-border payments in other currencies; it carries a fee and takes a little longer.

Most SWIFT transfers arrive on the same business day – many within the hour. Exact timing depends on factors like bank cut-off times, intermediary banks, and the destination country. Please allow up to 5 business days in some cases.

You can open payment accounts in 18 currencies directly in Holvi. See the current list in our Help Centre.

Beyond the SEPA region, there’s a defined group of countries you can send to and receive from. The full list can be found in our Help Centre.

Not always. Banks in the SWIFT chain can deduct fees along the way. For outbound transfers, Holvi does not deduct anything from your outgoing international transfers. However, it’s possible that the receiving bank may make deductions from your total amount. This means that your recipient may receive less than you actually sent.

The BIC (Business Identifier Code, sometimes called a SWIFT code) is an internationally recognised bank code of 8 or 11 characters. You’ll need it for an international transfer.

Yes. Create a USD or GBP virtual card and pay suppliers, SaaS and subscriptions straight from that currency account, converting to euros only when you choose.
