Open your account in three steps

To get started, you’ll need to live in Finland, have a registered business with a Business ID (Y-tunnus), and have Finnish online banking credentials or Mobile ID.

Start the signup in English and share a few basic details about yourself and your business.

Then download and log in to the Holvi App on your mobile device to verify your identity with your Finnish online banking credentials or Mobile ID.

Tell us what your business does and your expected turnover. Then upload a trade register extract, or a YTJ screenshot if your sole trader business isn’t in the trade register.

Our team reviews your details and emails you as soon as your account is ready to use.

Don’t have Finnish banking credentials or Mobile ID yet?

If you don’t have a Finnish Bank ID or Mobile ID, we’re unfortunately unable to provide an alternate verification method at this time.

Frequently asked questions

Sign up online in English and verify your identity in the Holvi App with your Finnish online banking credentials or Mobile ID. Then add your business details and upload a trade register extract, or a YTJ screenshot if your sole trader business isn’t in the trade register. Our team reviews your details and emails you when your account is ready. Holvi is a payment institution authorised by the FIN-FSA, so your Holvi account is a payment account.

If you don’t have a Finnish Bank ID or Mobile ID, we’re unable to provide an alternate verification method at this time. We know it can be difficult for foreign citizens to obtain such an ID after arriving in Finland, and we sympathise with this issue, truly. However, for the time-being this is our only accepted way of proving it’s really you opening an account.

If your business is registered in Finland but you live elsewhere, contact us: sole traders need to live in Finland, and users of a limited company need to live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. Submit a request here and we’ll get back to you in English.

You verify with your Finnish online banking credentials or Mobile ID. Holvi can’t verify your identity with documents alone, but we might ask for a copy of your passport if we need more information. Temporary ID documents aren’t accepted.

Your business needs to be registered before you can open a Holvi account. For a sole trader, we ask for a trade register extract no older than six months, or a YTJ screenshot if you’re not in the trade register. For a limited company (Oy), we ask for a commercial register extract no older than six months. You can add your VAT number later if you don’t have it yet.

Our support team answers in English and Finnish, and a real person handles your question.
